Cellcentric aims to mass produce fuel cells by 2025

Daimler Truck and the Volvo Group have presented the fuel cell joint venture strategy, Cellcentric, founded on 1 March 2021. For this purpose, the company plans to establish one of the largest series production of fuel cell systems in Europe.

Electric cabbies: In Britain, cab service Phoenix Taxis wants to add 50 more electric taxis to its fleet and also plans to install fast-charging stations.

Battery trolleybuses in service: The city of Esslingen officially introduced battery trolleybuses with In-Motion-Charging (IMC) from Vossloh Kiepe. Four of them have been in active service since late 2016. Their lithium titanate (LTO) traction batteries with 37 kWh enable the bendy buses to also run on routes with no overhead contact lines.

Electric ridesharing gains traction: GM wants to expand its carsharing service Maven in Los Angeles as it adds electric cars. 100 Chevy Bolt will soon appear in LA and more EV are headed to fleets in San Francisco and San Diego. Furthermore, GM plans to trial “thousands of autonomous electric Bolts” via ride sharing service Lyft by next year, Reuters quoted insiders.

Electric buses in Himalayas: The Indian state of Himachal Pradesh decided to buy 25 electric buses after testing has been successful. They will serve on the 50 km Manali-Rohtang pass in the Himalaya mountains, where glaciers had lately turned black from the exhausts of tourist shuttles.

Digital ICEing prevention: Hubject has come up with a solution that detects not only if whether a charger is free, but also if parking is available. The solution utilises sensors and works for any network operator and the German consortium has already successfully implemented a pilot project. Moreover, the digital system can detect whether the space is occupied by an EV or a combustion engine vehicle.

Rail & EV with Deutsche Bahn: Germany’s rail operator is piloting an EV hire scheme in Berlin. For an additional 29 euros, DB travellers can use their train ticket to also hire an EV from DB’s carsharing scheme Flinkster, allowing door-to-door transport. Customers may keep the electric car for up to a week.

Clever charging: Danish company Clever installed 200 EV charging stations last year. Over 750 rapid charging stations can now be found in Denmark, Sweden, and Germany and Clever plans to add another two each week throughout 2016. In addition, it plans to upgrade its 50 kW chargers to 150 kW.

Electric buses in Swabia: The town of Esslingen operates four electric buses. The trolleys by Solaris are able to run with as well as without a wire and were co-funded by the German federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg with 600,000 euros.

265 EV charging stations will be installed during for a pilot scheme in Washington State by company Avista. The trial will run over two years, with charge spots being installed in homes, workplaces and public locations. The utility hopes for over 3m dollars for the EVSE scheme that would start this May – if approved.

Canada charges ahead: Canadian EV infrastructure provider Sun Country Highway wants to install no fewer than 1,000 charging stations across the country. A timeframe for the project has not yet been announced.

The first Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell have been delivered to UK customers such as Transport for London, Air Products, ITM Power and Johnson Matthey. UK consumers can order the vehicle by contacting Hyundai UK directly. Coordinating deliveries worldwide, Hyundai will fulfil new customer deliveries in early 2015.

Zipcar hits streets in Madrid: The U.S. carsharing scheme will feature a Peugeot 308 hybrid as part of their fleet in the Spanish capital. The company is set on expanding across Europe and already operates in France, the UK and Austria.

Electric buses overhead: The German city of Esslingen will be getting four new electric buses that can be charged via overhead electric wires and then operate on electricity stored in the battery. The first two buses could go into service at the beginning of 2016.
