Enel completes fast-charging grid EVA+ in Italy & Austria
Together with its automotive partners, Enel has completed the construction of all 200 fast-charging stations of EU project EVA+ (Electric Vehicle Arteries) in Italy and Austria. In both countries the 50 kW multi-chargers now add up to 400 charging points for all kinds of electric cars.

EU-project EVA+ charges ahead in Austria and Italy
The energy supplier Enel has provided an update on the EU-funded project EVA+ (Electric Vehicle Arteries). As a result of the project, a total of 200 multi-standard rapid charging stations will be installed in Italy and Austria by next year.

The German federal state of Thuringia has revealed its charging infrastructure plan LISS until 2020. It plans 370 new EV chargers in the next three years, where a total of 32 local utilities will work together to install 300 regular and 70 fast-chargers. The federal state is funding slower chargers with 975 euros, while 2.46m euros will be invested in fast-chargers at a federal level. The utilities are investing a combined 2.61 euros.

Good-bye free charging: As reported, Tesla cars ordered after January 15th will not be allowed to charge for free at Superchargers. Only the first 400 kWh will be included in the price of the car. After that, Tesla will charge per kWh, meaning the fee will differ from area to area. The carmaker also emphasised that it will not profit, but will merely cover costs.

Research tip: A new report by Frost & Sullivan sees sales volume for on-board chargers grow from 300,000 units today to over 2.2 million devices by 2020. 3 – 3.7 kWh will remain the choice of a majority of OEMs (62%), however, 6 kWh on board chargers are gaining momentum.
