Researchers found the PEV incentives mainly benefit white, wealthy folks as 83 percent of 98,901 rebate recipients in the period from 2010 to 2015 reported yearly incomes of more than 100,000 dollars.

Reading tip: Motor Trend took a Chevy Bolt and ventured into “enemy territory,” namely the Tesla Design Studio. Pulling up there did draw a crowd, but not a hostile one. Instead, Tesla guys and girls – including the head of design – explored the Model 3 forerunner inside out.

Reading tip: Tesla not only leaves other premium cars in the dust during a drag race (the makers of DragTimes just managed to go from 0-60 mph in 2.54 seconds), it also leads the value retention segment. After 50,000 miles, the EV loses only 28 percent in value, while the BMW 7-series or Audi A8 lose between 38 and 41 percent.

Reading tip: V is for i-car one might say as Steve Jobs showed interest in carmaking already back in 2010 when he looked at the V-Vehicle prototype by a small start-up, the Guardian reports. Some of the ideas the Apple founder had on design and choice of material later made it into the BMW i3.

Video tip I: BYD has published a video about the [supposedly] worldwide largest delivery of an electric bus fleet in Shenzhen. Unfortunately, the manufacturer did not release any details, but the images are impressive and indicate that BYD did not exaggerate on the matter.

Research tip: Navigant Research published its”Lithium Ion Batteries for Transportation” report. It sets LG Chem apart as leading provider of power packs for electric and hybrid vehicles. The Koreans are closely pursued by Panasonic and Samsung SDI. All three excel in both strategy and execution.

Video tip: Take a good and long (20 min) look at the 2016 Nissan Leaf with the new 30-kWh battery. Obviously, the so-called first look fully takes in the interior, handling and includes a glimpse under the hood as well. It’s more of a how-to-guide than a review.

Video tip: The future paid a visit to the Fully Charged show hosted by Robert Llewellyn, as he tests the Toyota Mirai. He finds it more dynamic than the Prius but stresses their similarities, too. Obviously, hydrogen charging infrastructure remains a rather critical issue.
