BYD plans to open another factory for its Blade Batteries with lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) cells in China. According to an environmental audit report, BYD subsidiary FinDreams Technology will invest billion yuan (about 1.2 billion dollars) into the new 40-GWh production facility.

There are rumours in China that BYD wants to start mass production of sodium-ion batteries for electric cars. Local media report that BYD plans to manufacture them from the second quarter of 2023 and initially use them in some versions of the Qin EV, the Dolphin and the new Seagull model.

BYD and its subsidiary FinDreams Battery have opened the first production line of its battery factory in Shaoxing in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang. The blade batteries produced there will be used in future BYD models with the DM-i PHEV drive.
