Ioniq 5 already sold out in Australia

As Hyundai sent its online ordering tool for the Ioniq 5 live in Australia, it was quickly overwhelmed, with the allocated vehicles sold within three hours of launch. This means the initial allocation of 240 Ioniq 5 models headed Down Under have all been spoken for.

Norway marks 11,811 new EV registrations in August

In Norway, 11,811 new electric cars were registered in August. The share of electric cars in new passenger car registrations was 71.9 per cent last month. Norway’s most successful model across all drive types in August was the Tesla Model Y with 1,308 new registrations.

Norway marks 6,731 new EV registrations in July

In Norway, 6,731 new electric cars were registered in July, setting the EV share in new car registrations at 64 per cent last month. Norway’s most successful model across all drive types was the Ford Mustang Mach-E with 898 new registrations.

Hyundai confirms Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 7 launch

Hyundai has officially confirmed for the first time that the next electric vehicle models based on the E-GMP platform will be called Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 7, as recently leaked, and will be launched in 2022 and 2024 respectively. As suspected, the Ioniq 6 will be a mid-size sedan, the Ioniq 7 a large SUV.

Hyundai will soon start deliveries of the Ioniq 5, which was presented in February, in Norway. Several hundred examples of the 800-volt electric vehicle of the special model ‘Project 45’ have already been shipped there.

According to a report in South Korean media, Hyundai is already planning its second electric model based on the E-GMP after the Ioniq 5 for next year. After that, there will be a one-year break followed by the third model at the beginning of 2024.

Hyundai marks >200,000 interest expressions for Ioniq 5

Hyundai has reported a high level of interest in the 800-volt electric vehicle less than a week after the Ioniq 5 world premiere. Customers in Europe have submitted 236,000 expressions of interest for the special edition ‘Project 45’. Production is limited to 3,000 units, so it was sold out within a few hours.

Hyundai is launching Ioniq as a fully electric subsidiary

Hyundai is making Ioniq its own sub-brand for future battery electric vehicles based on the new Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with 800-volt technology. The first model will be the Ioniq 5 based on the Hyundai 45 concept car next year, with two further Ioniq models already announced.
