Gotion High Tech signs lithium plant deal in Argentina
The Chinese battery cell manufacturer and Volkswagen partner Gotion High-Tech has signed an agreement to build a lithium carbonate plant in Argentina. In future, the material will be processed into battery cells in Argentina, which could then also be used in electric vehicles made in four continents.
Gotion to build lithium carbonate plants in China
Volkswagen’s battery partner Gotion High-Tech is aiming to build two factories in the southern Chinese province of Jiangxi to produce a total of 100,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate per year. The first phase, with 20,000 tonnes of annual capacity at each of the two sites, is expected to be operational by the end of 2022.
