Freyr Board approves first battery cell factory
The Freyr Board has approved the Norwegian company to build the first battery cell factory in Rana, Norway, for production to start in the first half of 2024. Called Giga Arctic, the plant has been designed for an annual capacity of 29 GWh, according to the plan now approved.

Freyr makes final investment decision on first cell factory
Freyr has made the final investment decision to construct the first production line for battery cells in Rana, Norway. The so-called Customer Qualification Plant is scheduled to go into operation in the second half of 2022 to produce sample cells for potential customers.

Freyr signs licensing deal with 24M
The Norwegian company Freyr that is planning to build a large battery cell factory in Rana, Norway, has signed a licensing agreement with cell specialist 24M Technologies. The US American spin-off is known for the development of ‘semi-solid’ technology.

Battery making startup Freyr plans belt of Gigafactories
The Norwegian startup Freyr is planning to set up battery cell factories in the gigawatt range. The first plant should be located in Rana, Norway and greater plans for a “Nordic Battery Belt” with at least ten plants are in the pipeline.
