NHTSA investigates LG ES battery recalls

The US Federal Highway and Vehicle Safety Administration is moving to investigate LG Energy Solution’s faulty battery cells that led to fires in electric cars and plug-in hybrids. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration wants to ensure that all defective batteries have been recalled by car manufacturers.

Recall for Mercedes eSprinter & eVito models

Nearly 8,000 eSprinters and eVito from Mercedes-Benz worldwide have to go to the workshop due to a software problem. A fault in the battery management system can lead to loss of drive power. The recall affects 7,996 eSprinter vehicles worldwide and 2,511 eVito vehicles in Germany.

Mercedes EQS faces limited recall in the USA

There is another recall for the Mercedes-Benz EQS – albeit only in the USA and only for 24 units of the electric luxury sedan. Incorrectly screwed ground connections could lead to increased electrical resistance, which in combination with high electrical currents increases the risk of fire.

General Motors to pick up Bolt production in April

GM said it will restart production of its Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV on April 4, as it continues to fix defective batteries as part of a global recall on the cars. This follows the idling of the Orion plant last summer, a production restart and another idle period last year.

Tesla recall continues to expand

Tesla has to repair over 800,000 cars because of a fault in the seat belt function. The reason is that the acoustic reminder to fasten the seat belt fails under certain circumstances. As with most Tesla recalls, the problem will be taken care of via a software update.
