London introduces scrappage scheme
The City of London has launched a £110 million scrappage scheme for combustion engine vehicles. This follows the announced extension of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) to the whole of London from 29 August 2023. The scrappage subsidies target economically vulnerable groups.

UK scrappage scheme and Tesla Giga Bristol rumoured
The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is considering a premium of up to £6,000 for the exchange of a diesel or petrol car for an electric vehicle with an official announcement expected on 6 July. There are also rumours that Tesla might plan a Gigafactory on the Isles.

London opens £23m van scrappage fund
First promised late last year, London has opened its scrapping fund to help microbusinesses and charities get rid of their older vans and minibuses and switch to cleaner vehicles. Worth 23 million pounds, the “scrap for cash” options are more attractive than expected.

France: Carmakers agree to supplement eMobility
The French government and major carmakers have agreed to subsidise the switch from fossil fuel powered cars to electric vehicles. The manufacturers will thus supplement France’s scrappage scheme so that it can be raised and extended in 2019.
