Virginia to take Thomas Built Buses to school

The Daimler subsidiary was selected as the supplier for the 50 fully electric school buses of the initial phase of Dominion Energy’s electric school bus replacement program in Virginia. This will be the largest deployment of electric school buses in the USA yet.

Researchers at the University of Richmond have taught a group of 17 rats to move and control a small electric car. They found that “driving” the electric ROV (rat-operated vehicle) lowered the rodents’ stress level instantly.

USA: new headquarters for BMZ in Virginia Beach

German battery systems manufacturer BMZ Group has opened the new headquarters of its American subsidiary BMZ USA in Virginia Beach. New assembly lines are also to be built at the site in order to further expand the company’s US business.

Electrify America announces charging collaboration

VW’s diesel-gate subsidiary Electrify America announced the collaboration with nine additional companies to host more than 30 fast EV charging stations across the U.S. More than 20 of these will be located in California with another six states being added.

Berlin e-bus: As you maybe saw on our Facebook page yesterday, Berlin began operating four all-electric Solaris Urbino 12 buses to service the route 204. The buses are charged inductively at the first and last station on the line via the Primove charging system from Bombardier.

Uruguay wants more e-taxis: The country earmarked 100,000 dollars for each newly purchased electric taxi. A taxi license will be subsidized with 60,000 dollars and the taxi company will be exempt for a 23 percent sales tax. Charging infrastructure will be funded with 5,000 dollars. Moreover, BYD confirmed the delivery of 50 e6 e- taxis for the capital Montevideo.
