Grants in Wales for residential charging points

Nine local authorities across Wales are set to receive hundreds of thousands of pounds from the UK Government’s Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) to install electric vehicle charge points in car parks in residential areas.

Electric buses are rolled out in Wales

Following electric bus trials in Cardiff that began in 2018, Newport is now going to become the first city in Wales to sport the country’s first electric bus. By April 2020 the city will receive another 14 electric buses.

In May this year, the Welsh Government was the first UK parliament to declare a ‘climate emergency’.  It seems that now the Welsh government has an in-house challenge: Out of 77 official cars, 95% are diesel and only one is eletric.

Oxis prepares for serial production of Li-S batteries

The lithium-sulfur battery specialist Oxis Energy has announced plans to build the first production plant for the manufacture of electrolyte and cathode material specifically for the mass production of lithium-sulfur cells in Port Talbot in Wales.

Lagonda presents “All-Terrain” e-SUV concept

Aston Martin’s electric car outlet Lagonda has brought a preview of its first production model to Geneva. The “All-Terrain Concept” will be produced at the new St. Athan plant in Wales from 2022. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not yet revealed any technical details in its otherwise imaginative description.

Swansea launching largest EV fleet in Wales

Swansea Council has taken delivery of 40 Partner Electric vans from Peugeot, making Swansea the local authority with the largest electric van fleet in Wales. The electric vehicles for council staff have been leased on a five-year contract.

Belectric lends life to thousands of electric car batteries

Belectric says it has commissioned three large projects in the UK and Germany based on thousands of electric car batteries, both used and new. The batteries from different manufacturers have a total capacity of 40 MWh and are providing frequency response services to grids in Europe.

Wales invests 2 million pounds to extend charging network

The Welsh government has announced their plan to invest 2 million pounds into the expansion of a charging network for electric vehicles in their borders. Currently there are 439 public charging ports available in Wales to service the approximately 2,500 BEVs and PHEVs.
