Swarco announces plans for new HPC network in the UK
UK charging infrastructure provider Swarco Smart Charging announces the roll-out of an HPC charging network across England, Scotland and Wales. Under the name PoGo, over 2,000 ultra-fast charging stations are to be built at public facilities such as grocery shops and cafés over the next four years.

Renault Retail Group replaces courtesy cars with EVs
The Renault Retail Group is switching all its courtesy cars to the Renault Zoe. The move affects 143 vehicles spread across the 15 official Renault and Dacia dealerships in England and Wales the Group comprises. The new EVs join 21 Zoe E-Tech that already exist on the 164-strong courtesy car fleet.

Wales launches ‘EV Charging Action Plan’
The Welsh government has launched a new e-mobility strategy and presented the ‘EV Charging Action Plan’. It envisions infrastructure investments, including the private sector, to install charging points every 20 miles at trunks crisscrossing Wales by 2025.

UK sets sights on ICE truck sales ban in 2040

UK invests £300 million in charging points
UK energy regulator Ofgem approved a £300 million investment (around 348 million euros) for over 200 low carbon projects to get Britain ready for more electric transport. This will see the instalment of 3550 EV chargers across the UK as part of a £40 billion investment in greener energy.

Cardiff orders 36 electric Yutong buses
Cardiff Bus has ordered 36 electric buses from the Chinese manufacturer Yutong. The 36 Yutong E12 buses will be in service in the Welsh capital from the end of this year.

Newport orders 16 more Yutong electric buses
The Welsh port city of Newport is increasing its electric bus fleet from 16 to 32 vehicles. The operator Newport Transport has ordered 16 more electric buses from the Chinese manufacturer Yutong, which are to be delivered by the end of this year. The 16 existing electric buses are also from Yutong.

Swarco eVolt to install chargers for electric cabs in Wales
Swarco eVolt has won a contract to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure to enable taxi drivers in south-east Wales to charge their vehicles. The order came from Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) and covers charging sites across multiple local authorities.

Lagonda presents “All-Terrain” e-SUV concept
Aston Martin’s electric car outlet Lagonda has brought a preview of its first production model to Geneva. The “All-Terrain Concept” will be produced at the new St. Athan plant in Wales from 2022. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not yet revealed any technical details in its otherwise imaginative description.

Aston Martin makes Wales its ‘Home of Electrification’
Aston Martin is working on a new plant in St. Athan in Wales. Once the Rapide E will roll off the lines here in 2019, the factory will become what Aston calls their “Home of Electrification”. By 2021, it will indeed house their EV label Lagonda.

Swansea Council has taken delivery of 40 Partner Electric vans from Peugeot, making Swansea the local authority with the largest electric van fleet in Wales. The electric vehicles for council staff have been leased on a five-year contract.

Belectric lends life to thousands of electric car batteries
Belectric says it has commissioned three large projects in the UK and Germany based on thousands of electric car batteries, both used and new. The batteries from different manufacturers have a total capacity of 40 MWh and are providing frequency response services to grids in Europe.
