Ionity partners with Village Hotels in the UK
High power charge point operator Ionity has found the next location partner in the UK and will install HPC hubs for the Village Hotels chain. They selected 33 sites and planned installing 380 ultra-rapid charge points for much extended public use.
With up to 350 kW of power, the charging stations will graze Village Hotels in England, Scotland and Wales. Hotel guests, as well as the public, may charge their electric cars here at the usual Ionity rates, which can be substantial.
At the same time, EV drivers just stopping by will also have access to the hotel facilities, including a gym, pool, co-working spaces, Starbucks and its Pub & Grill.
Ionity says this was a “key partnership with a hotel brand that provides the public with access to not only EV charging but amenities to cater to all needs”.
As with most Ionity installations, the hotel hubs will comprise twelve charge points each.
All charging parks are scheduled to be operational by the end of 2024, the first of which will be in April 2024.
Ionity’s Country Manager of UK and Ireland, Andreas Atkins, called the partnership an “exciting milestone”.
Kelli Turner, Village Hotels Director of ESG, also said this was a “significant moment for us as we move towards a more sustainable future and aligned with our Village Green vision
that underlies our ESG Strategy. The hotel chain is moving towards 100% renewable energy across all hotels by the end of 2023.
Ionity has partnered with UK green energy firm Octopus since 2021, meaning all energy powering its ultra-rapid chargers is 100% renewable.
In July 2023, Ionity counted more than 500 charging stations and more than 2,500 charging points in 24 European countries. In the UK, the company is also working with MSA Group for access to motorway rest stops.
Ionity is a joint venture of BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Mercedes Benz and Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche, along with BlackRock’s Climate Infrastructure platform as a financial investor.
