LG to start Bolt production? LG Electronics has completed construction of an EV component facility in Chinese Nanjing and started production. The plant is close to where LG Chem also builds electric cars. Hence, the new production site is likely to manufacture mainly parts for Chevrolet’s Bolt EV.
Supersonic electric liners? Electric flying over long distances may be just a few years away if one follows the idea of battery designer Luke Workman. His flat cell design would use the entire wing surface as part of a huge battery. Range would then be down to wingspan, essentially.
Hybrid sports car: British Zenos received 250,000 pounds from the UK Government to build a hybrid prototype of its E10 R racer. Hyperdrive Innovation will deliver the battery management. If successful, the hybrid drive system based on Ford’s Ecoboost could be utilised in other, rather serial models.
Next level batteries: BioSolar commences the development of its high energy anode for lithium batteries. While the anode in question is an new technology, the company will seek synergies with the so-called super cathode technology it has reportedly been developing.
