The future of LCVs: Iveco has unveiled its ‘Vision’ concept van at the IAA for utility vehicles in Germany. The stylish light van features a so-called Dual-Energy-System. It allows for mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric drive configurations. Furthermore, Iveco presented its new Daily Electric that is to be available by next year. It is said to feature a range of 215 kilometres and a 22-kW on-board charger, our editor reports from Hanover.

Porsche Cayenne to premier: The Cayenne S E-Hybrid will debut next week in Paris and it is already the third plug-in hybrid from the German automaker. While the petrol engine is the same as in the old Cayenne, the PHEV features an electric motor with 70 kW that brings the system’s power to 416 hp.

Plug-in Phaeton? According to Automotive News, VW insiders say that the second generation Phaeton will be offered with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain for the 2018 or 2019 model year. Furthermore, the then 400-hp sedan is likely to make a reappearance in the U.S. where the Phaeton is expected to start at 70,000 dollars.

Compressed Air Hybrid: Citroen is to present its Cactus Airflow 2l Concept at its home show in Paris. Like the Peugeot 208 Hybrid Air concept (we reported), it is driven by a compressed-air hybrid system and is said to consume only two litres per 100 kilometres as per European test cycle.

Hyundai to promote hydrogen: The South Korean company is working with the US Department of Energy (DoE) and the House Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Caucus at promoting fuel-cell technology in the States. Hyundai started leasing the first FCV in the U.S., its Tuscon Fuel Cell, earlier this year.
