LeSupercar-620New Tesla fighter from China: Chinese entertainment company LeTV has released the first concept sketches of its upcoming electric car to take on Tesla. “Le Supercar” is scheduled to debut at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show and to hit the market two and a half years from now. LeTV has reportedly hired 600 people to develop the electric car, including talent poached from Tesla, BMW, and GM.

Mercedes PHEV outlook: The German carmaker will launch long-wheelbased versions of its C-Class and S-Class with plug-in hybrid drivetrains in China, according to German publication “Die Welt”. The report also states that Mercedes plans to gradually increase the electric range from the current 35 to up to 70 kilometers and to use electric motors with 90 kW in all of its PHEV models in the future.

European Kia Optima: Kia has revealed first official images of the Euro-spec 2016 Kia Optima, which will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The market launch is planned for the 4th quarter of 2015, a plug-in hybrid version will follow in 2016.

Connected EV project: U.S.-based electric vehicle developer Leo Motors teams up with South Korean mobile carrier LG Uplus for the development of connected electric cars and electric boats. Under the agreement, LG Uplus will roll out integrated Internet of Things management systems and a billing system for electricity charging while Leo Motors will develop EVs and electric boats with such systems.
