Bentley drops the veil: The carmaker unveiled its Bentayga SUV even before the IAA. The V6 plug-in hybrid boasts 400 hp and will arrive on the market by 2017. Furthermore, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer confirmed that the plug-in hybrid technology will also be used in the next-gen Continental and Mulsanne.
New Lexus hybrid: Toyota’s premium subsidiary will bring the new RX to Frankfurt. The RX 450 hybird comes with a combined output of 313 hp. Production start is scheduled for October and first deliveries in Europe will start before the end of the year.
Not for everyone: The Roadster 3.0 upgrade is not compatible with older models, Tesla confirmed. Only Roadster Versions 2.0 and 2.5 can benefit from a new and more powerful battery pack, given owners are ready to pay 29,000 dollars for the extra range.

The Formula E race in Beijing has been postponed by one week. The Chinese capital will now welcome the electric racing series on October 24th instead of on the 17th.
India subsidises EVs: The Indian government now offers 150,000 rupees (2,250 dollars) in subsidies to buyers of an electric vehicles that cost more than Rs 5 lakh (7,500 dollars). Reductions in road tax and VAT are also on the table.
