Toyota to create third-gen fuel cell systems with BMW

Although Toyota’s second generation of fuel cell systems won’t hit the market before 2020, the Japanese company is already working on a third generation – together with German carmaker BMW, “Autocar” reports.

The result of this cooperation shall be ready for production by 2025. That means, also BMW could launch its first fuel cell serial model around that time. Through the third generation of FC systems, Toyota seeks to lower the price of H2-powered cars significantly, reaching a level comparable with hybrid models.
