Deutz launches off-highway electrification with BMWi technology

Deutz will debut electrified drive solutions for off-highway applications at the Intermat this April. The drives may be utilised in construction and material handling equipment and BMWi delivers the battery.

Deutz’ electrified off-highway drive solution consists of a combustion engine and an electric motor, power electronics and a custom made battery packed with BMW i’ lithium-ion technology. The latter is both applied in BMWs but also in Torqueedo boats, a company Deutz only recently acquired.

Deutz considers Torqeedo a catalyst for its “e-Deutz strategy” and plans to serial produce first innovative components within two years. Each component of the first series can be scaled to meet customers’ demand.
