Electric Motorcycle Racing Series FIM MotoE officially introduced

The race is organized by MotoGP promoter Dorna Sports has launched the brand new support class, called the FIM MotoE World Cup. Revealed in a Tuesday launch event in Rome, the sponsors were revealed, as well as few additional details regarding the race.

The FIM MotoE is set to launch in 2019 with a total of 18 bikes from 11 different teams taken from the grand prix paddock. The seven privateer MotoGP racing teams, which include Tech 3, LCR, Marc VDS and several other known names from the business, will each field two bikes for the race. The remaining four teams, drawn from the Moto2 and Moto3 classes, will each be allowed to run 1 bike.

Enel, who will act as the official title sponsor, is an Italian energy firm, has not released the calendar, however it is expected that the MotoE cup will take place over 5 races, consisting of 8 laps each, all over Europe. The rumored start will be in Jerez, however confirmation is still being awaited.
