More range and a new face is the promise of the Denza 500 that BYD and Daimler launched through their joint venture Shenzhen DENZA New Energy Automotive today. The all-electric model has been made in and for China exclusively and succeeds their first EV.

As previously announced, the Denza 500 has got a new battery designed and built by BYD.  With further weight reductions the range got extended to around 500 km now (451 according to NEDC). From Mercedes comes the EV’s architecture, most visibly “tiger eye” LED headlights, the absence of a radiator grill, and rippling LED taillights.

The interior has been upgraded as well and now includes more connectivity such as a WeChat account (China’s Facebook), or car navigation system that allow Denza drivers to locate over 112,000 charging points across the country.

The Denza 500 succeeds the Denza 400. More models are a future possibility but have not been officially announced to date. The Denza is exclusive to China.
