New Flyer Industries, based both in Canada and the USA, has joined the Charging Interface Initiative (CharIN) as a new core member, developing an industrial standard for charging solutions.

CharIN’s declared mission is the promotion of Combined Charging Systems (CCS) as the standard for all types of battery electric vehicles. The new member, joining the lineup of Siemens, ABB and ChargePoint, will add the competencies of the Vehicle Innovation Center in Alabama. The centre was opened in 2017, and focuses on bus and coach charging technology, utilizing interactive learning and collaboration.

Jennifer McNeill, Vice President of Marketing and Sales with New Flyer, said: “When operators, manufacturers, and key stakeholders commit to common charging interfaces, it provides truly an opportunity to optimize electric bus solution for the long term.”
