Tesla and BMW square off in sales battle

tesla-model-3-05

Tesla sold more Model 3 in the USA during August than BMW sold across all car models combined.  According to the estimate, about 17,800 Tesla Model 3 were sold during the past month.

BMW, on the other hand, managed to sell a total of 14,450 vehicles during the same period. The calculation does have some nuances, however: BMW SUVs from the X3 upwards are considered light trucks in the USA, and are not counted in the statistic. If one adds the Model S and Model X sales (2,625 and 2,750, respectively) Tesla certainly does keep up with the level of BMW sales across the board in the USA, which BMW counts as a total of 23,789.
