The French municipal association Métropole d’Aix-Marseille-Provence has ordered up to 50 electric buses from Heuliez Bus under a framework agreement, which is to be delivered by the end of 2022.

In concrete terms, the metropolitan region has now commissioned the construction of 37 Heuliez GX 337 Elec electric buses. The Métropole d’Aix-Marseille-Provence association represents 92 municipalities with a combined population of almost two million in the south of France. The administrative headquarters are located in the city of Marseille.

Four E-solo buses from Heuliez have already been put into service this year by operator Keolis on behalf of the association of municipalities. It is now certain that 37 more electric buses of type GX 337 Elec will follow. As an option, the contract of both partners includes another 13 units.

The buses are manufactured in Rorthais in the west of France. Heuliez says it has now sold more than 400 GX Elec E-buses in Europe.

The e-buses for the Métropole d’Aix-Marseille-Provence are 12 meters long and can seat 27 passengers. Onboard they have an NMC battery pack with 350 kWh storage capacity, stowed on the roof and in the stern area, and an electric motor with 160 kW power. They are charged overnight at the depot.
