FR: Gendarmerie Nationale opts for Peugeot 3008 Hybrid

The French police have opted for a semi-electric approach. Peugeot has delivered nearly 400 plug-in hybrid cars, namely the Peugeot 3008, to the Ministry of the Interior’s Gendarmerie Nationale. The PHEVs come screen-printed and join several unmarked vehicles ordered in 2020.

Peugeot considers the new order proof that the 3008 Hybrids were “an important development for intervention vehicles”. The electric motor and engine deliver 225 bhp. The electric range is up to 56 km, powered by a 13.2 kWh rechargeable battery.

The French brand produces the vehicles for the Ministry of the Interior at the Stellantis factory in Sochaux. In addition, EGP does the bodywork conversion for the Gendarmerie in Hordain.

Peugeot also noted that additional supplies were planned for the first quarter of 2022 for the Gendarmerie and the Police in line with the fleet’s electrification approach.

A fully electric version, the Peugeot e-3008, is slated to launch in 2023.
