Volvo & Iberdrola to build charging stations in Spain

Volvo Cars partnered with energy provider Iberdrola in Spain to build a network of public charging points at its dealerships in the country. The first of these charging points has been commissioned in Lérida in Catalonia.

The charging points will be integrated into Iberdrola’s app and also made accessible via Plugsurfing. Similarly to Ionity’s model, customers of an XC40 Recharge or C40 receive a preferential price at the Iberdrola chargers; for all other customers, the charging points are available at the regular price.

Volvo Car Spain does not mention any concrete targets for the number of charging points to be installed at how many dealerships. There is also no information on the type of charging points. However, a published press photo indicates that they will be both AC and DC charging points.

This new agreement between Volvo Cars Spain and Iberdrola complements an earlier agreement between the two companies for home charging solutions.
