Mercedes has started accepting orders for EQE variants

Mercedes-Benz has opened the order books for the first variants of the EQE, which will be in dealerships from the end of April. The electric sedan can be ordered now as the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ as well as the Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4MATIC at prices starting at €70,626.50 and €103,827.50 respectively.

The EQE 350+ is currently the option with the longest range. The vehicle uses a 90.6 kWh battery and a 215 kW rear-wheel drive – this drive configuration is known from the EQS 350. In the EQE, which is slightly shorter at 4.94 metres, the WLTP range is up to 660 kilometres, but depending on the equipment, “only” 545 WLTP kilometres are possible.

The details on the battery, the charging system and all dimensions of the EQE were revealed at its premiere at the IAA Mobility in September 2021. What is new, however, is that Mercedes has now added a ‘+’ to the model designation of the EQE 350. At least for the EQS, the ‘+’ stands for the larger of the two batteries (107.8 kWh) with twelve modules, while the EQS without the ‘+’ uses the 90.6 kWh variant with ten modules. This suggests that Mercedes is planning a smaller battery for a base EQE – with eight modules this would be in the region of 72 kWh.

This February, Mercedes then presented two AMG offshoots of the EQE, the first of which is now available to order. The Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4MATIC uses the same 90.6 kWh battery as the rear-wheel drive model, but in addition to the permanently excited synchronous machine on the rear axle, it has a second electric motor on the front axle. The electric all-wheel drive in the 43 has a system output of 350 kW and a maximum torque of 858 Nm. The WLTP range is between 462 and 533 kilometres.

Of course, the prices of 70,626.50 euros and 103,827.50 euros for both versions are only the basic prices. With optional extras, the final price can be increased significantly – in some cases even by software after delivery. According to the Mercedes-Benz press release, however, only the EQE 43 4MATIC can be equipped with the Hyperscreen, i.e. the large, curved screen unit in the interior.

In the case of the EQE 350+, however, the base price is very important: with a net list price of 59,350 euros, it is below the current upper limit for the environmental bonus, so it is eligible for the reduced rate of 7,975 euros gross – at least according to the regulation valid until the end of 2022.

Update 06 July 2022

A few months after the EQE 350+ and the Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4MATIC, Mercedes has opened the order books for the second AMG variant of the EQE. The battery-electric performance sedan starts in Germany at prices from 109,777.50 euros. The technical data of the two AMG offshoots of the EQE is available in this article – for the acceleration values it partly depends on the charge level.

At 109,777.50 euros, the 53 is exactly 5,950 euros more expensive than the EQE 43. The “Dynamic Plus” package, with which the best driving performance is possible in the EQE 53, costs 4,760 euros extra.
