Penske Truck Leasing orders 750 Ford E-Transit

Ford has received another large order for its E-Transit electric van in the US. Penske Truck Leasing has ordered 750 E-Transits to rent and lease to its customers.

The first units of the Ford E-Transit for Penske Truck Leasing are scheduled to be delivered to Southern California in the coming weeks, before the E-Transit is gradually rolled out to other Penske locations in the US later this year. The order will be placed after a successful test phase in late 2021, according to Penske Truck Leasing.

“We’re excited to help bring these new vehicles to market as both a rental and full-service lease option for our customers,” said Art Vallely, president of Penske Truck Leasing. “We continue to expand and diversify our fleet of electric vehicles and to offer new options for customers seeking more sustainable choices when it comes to transportation.”

The 750 vehicles in the current order could be followed by additional units: Penske’s long-term plans include “adding more of these units” to its network of rental and leasing locations across North America. Penske has not revealed a timeline or scope for its electric fleet.

In January, US retailer Walmart ordered 1,100 units of the E-Transit from Ford. DHL Express will also introduce 270 E-Transits to its UK fleet this summer. For Europe, Ford has just started manufacturing the E-Transit close by in in Kocaeli, Turkey.

Penske Truck Leasing is a Penske Transportation Solutions company headquartered in Reading, Pennsylvania. The company says the Penske Truck Leasing fleet currently comprises more than 372,000 vehicles – not only in North America, but also South America, Europe, Australia and Asia.
