Ford issues major hybrid recall in the USA

Ford is recalling more than 100,000 vehicles with hybrid or plug-in hybrid drive systems in the USA due to a fire hazard. The models affected are the Escape, Maverick and Corsair from the years 2020 to 2022 – however, the problem lies in the combustion part of the powertrain.

In the event of an engine failure, significant amounts of oil and fuel vapours could get onto hot parts of the ignition and cause a fire. In addition, Ford is expanding a previously launched recall for the Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition models from 39,000 to 66,221 units. Ford attributes the fire hazard to a circuit board in the battery box that is susceptible to a short circuit.

I am getting ready to order a 2023 Maverick. Will the recall issue be resolved by the time I order and receive my truck?
