Piëch Automotive announces management changes

The Swiss electric car startup Piëch Automotive has restructured its management. Manfred Fitzgerald and Tobias Moers will lead the company as Co-CEOs in the future – both managers have many years of experience in the automotive industry.

Fitzgerald assumes a dual role at Piëch Automotive: as the new Chairman of the Executive Board and Co-CEO, he is responsible for the operational management of Piëch Automotive AG. In his twelve years at Lamborghini, he got to know the business with exclusive sports cars and shaped the image of the manufacturer as Director Brand and Design. From 2016 onwards, Fitzgerald had built up the premium brand Genesis within the Hyundai Motor Group.

The second top appointment is former Aston Martin and AMG boss Tobias Moers, who will serve as Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and Co-CEO for Piëch Automotive. Moers had been wooed away from AMG by the new Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll and had given the British sports car manufacturer a new strategy that also includes electric and hybrid models.

Moers had joined the then AMG GmbH in 1994 and remained an important figure in Affalterbach even after the takeover by Mercedes: in 2002 he took over the overall vehicle development of all AMG model series. In 2013, Moers was appointed Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

Previously, former Volkswagen Group boss Matthias Müller, long-time Porsche manager and Burmester CEO Andreas Henke and former Tesla European boss Jochen Rudat had left the Swiss electric car startup. Piëch Automotive is working on the Piëch GT electric sports car, which is due to be launched in mid-2024 as the first vehicle in a product family of three variants.

“With Manfred Fitzgerald and Tobias Moers, two established authorities from the sophisticated and rapidly evolving world of sports cars and automotive luxury brands join the Piëch team,” says co-founder Toni Piëch. “. Both have a proven and enviable track record in this segment and possess extensive knowledge, an adept sense of how to communicate with exclusive customers and a distinct understanding of luxury brands.”
