Fisker selects Wallbox Chargers from Spain as global partner

Fisker has appointed Spanish charging infrastructure manufacturer Wallbox Chargers as a global partner to provide home charging for Fisker electric cars. Home chargers and installation services from Wallbox will be available in the US, Canada and Europe via the Fisker website.

Sales will start at the same time as production. Fisker reportedly wants to start making the Fisker Ocean from November at contract manufacturer Magna in Europe.

Wallbox Chargers will handle the global home charging business for Fikser clients. Specifically, Fisker wants customers to opt for the Pulsar Plus wallbox in North America. In Europe, Fisker will be the fist manufacturer to offer the Pulsar Max wallbox and the company names Denmark, Germany, France, Norway, Austria, Sweden and the UK as European launch markets.

The Pulsar Max has a five-metre cable (optional seven metres) and features very compact housing. Depending on the connection, the Pulsar Max can be configured up to 7.4 kW single-phase or three-phase to 11 or 22 kW. The device also has WLAN and Bluetooth. In addition, dynamic load management is integrated and an (uncalibrated) energy meter is installed.

Both chargers will display Fisker and Wallbox logos; pricing has yet to be disclosed. However, As without Fisker branding, Wallbox usually offers the Pulsar Max for less than 1,000 euros.

“Together with Wallbox, we are providing class-leading, competitively priced chargers for Fisker owners,” Chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker said. “Wallbox’s track record of delivering well-designed, innovative, and dependable charging systems on a global scale makes the partnership a perfect fit for our customers and our business.”

Douglas Alfaro, General Manager of Wallbox North America, commented, there was “a natural alignment between our two brands, so we are excited to announce our partnership with Fisker.”

In the US and Canada, installation services will be provided by COIL, a recent Wallbox acquisition. Fisker and Wallbox also plan to offer home installation services provided by Wallbox in Europe.

From Barcelona into the world

Wallbox Chargers is also Nissan’s home charging partner in the US as reported. The company claims the Pulsar Plus to be one of the smallest smart EV chargers in North America. Demand has “far exceeded” forecasts, said Wallbox founder and CEO Enric Asunción shortly after launching US operations in 2020. “The rapid growth we’re experiencing in the United States will require us to increase capacity shortly,” he added. Consequently, Wallbox is constructing a factory in Arlington, Texas.

The texas plant is its fourth manufacturing facility, along with two plants in Europe and one in China. In Europe, Wallbox Chargers began production in December 2021 in Barcelona. Wallbox expects to have a global annual production capacity of over 1.1 million chargers by the end of this year.

Wallbox Chargers lists as WBX in New York.
