Mazda to reintroduce the MX-30 in California

Mazda will bring back its only electric model to California. After selling out the MX-30 EV last year, Mazda North American Operations announced that the 2023 Mazda MX-30 EV will be available to purchase from California dealerships this spring.

The new MX-30 utilizes Mazda’s ‘e-Skyactiv’ technology and runs on a 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery with an EPA estimated range of 100 miles on a full charge. No mention is made of new drive technology, so it stands to reason that the same specifications from the launch version still remain, as the battery does: the front-wheel drive 80.9 kW electric motor will deliver an output of 107 kW (143 horsepower) and a maximum torque of 271 Nm. The MX-30 accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 9.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 140 km/h (87 mph).

Prices for the new MX-30 will start from $34,110, up by about $700 compared to the 2022 version, topping out at $37,120 for the ‘Premium Plus’ package.

Last year, Mazda found that demand far outstripped supply when the 505 units the company exported to the USA were sold out by August. At the time, the MX-30 had been out for a year, with all orders going to customers in California.
