Polestar presents additional limited edition Polestar 2

Polestar has developed a second limited edition of the Polestar 2. The upgrades for the Polestar 2 BST Edition 230, with 350 kW of power and 680 Nm of torque, include exclusive green ‘Nebula’ paint and MicroSuede upholstery for the seats and steering wheel inserts made from partially recycled nubuck textiles.

In terms of technology, there are only a few differences to the first special model, the Polestar 2 BST Edition 270. The company says, “All the chassis upgrades that were first implemented on the original Polestar 2 BST edition 270 remain available.” So the chassis lowered by 25 millimetres, specially developed two-way dampers from Öhlins, 20 per cent stiffer springs, and 21-inch rims are now also part of the new special model, which is given the code number 230 – which stands for 230 examples.

The limitation to the ‘chassis upgrades’ is important because technically, there is a significant difference, despite the same system output of 350 kW: for the new model year, Polestar has technically updated the electric sedan. For example, there is now a slightly larger battery with 82 instead of 78 kWh and (irrelevant for the all-wheel drive special model) rear-wheel drive instead of front-wheel drive for the single-engine versions.

One notable difference to the special model announced in 2022 is in the design: while the first special model was available in Thunder, Snow or the matt paint finish ‘Battleship Gray’, the focus is now on ‘Nebula’ green; the exterior can also be ordered in the colour ‘Space’ (black). For both body colours, a continuous stripe running across the vehicle is also available as an option. And just the same, the closed radiator grille at the front for the current model year. Unlike the standard versions, this element on the BST Edition 230 is not in body colour, but in black.

The equipment is the complete package: in addition to the unique look, the special model comes with the Plus Package, Pilot Package and Performance Package. A total of 230 units will be produced for the European and North American markets. These can be ordered now and are scheduled for delivery from the third quarter of 2023 onwards. Unlike the BST Edition 270, where it was clear from the start that only 35 examples would come to Germany, Polestar has not revealed the figures for the German market this time.
