Following the first deliveries of its EV9 in South Korea last week, Kia announced the first prices for the European market – specifically for Belgium. There, Kia will initially offer two versions with the large battery pack.

The Earth Launch Edition of Kia’s electric SUV will start at €74,990. It comes with a 150 kW rear-wheel drive and a battery with a capacity of 99.8 kWh. The bigger version, the GT Line Launch Edition, features a 283 kW all-wheel drive. The battery capacity is the same for both versions. The latter variant is available from €80.423.

For these base prices, the EV9 comes in a seven-seat configuration with three seats in the second row and two single seats in the third row. Optionally, there are two six-seat configurations: For an additional €600, two swivelling individual seats are installed in the second row, which can also be turned against the direction of travel, creating a kind of four-seat group in the rear. For €900, two “Relaxation” single seats are fitted in the row, which can be adjusted to a particularly flat reclining position. According to the Belgian price list, a metallic paint finish costs an extra €800, while a matt paint finish is listed at €1,800. No other optional extras are offered, at least for the Launch Edition.

The Belgian prices are not directly transferable to other markets. For example, in South Korea, the EV9 variant with a large battery and rear-wheel drive is offered at a price of €55,900. At Hyundai-Kia, the respective national companies usually define prices and the exact configuration of the equipment packages.

The prices for the basic drive of the EV9 – with a 76.1 kWh battery and the 160 kW rear engine – have yet to be announced. This variant is currently neither on sale in South Korea nor does it appear in the Belgian price list.

According to the Spanish portal Forocoches electricos, the official market launch is planned for November, with the first deliveries scheduled for early 2024.

Update 06 July 2023

Kia UK has revealed pricing and specifications for the all-new Kia EV9 and has opened pre-orders. The entry point into the EV9 line-up starts with the ‘Air’, which is priced from £64,995. The first UK customer deliveries of the EV9 ‘GT-Line S’ will start from January 2024, with ‘Air’ and ‘GT-Line’ models due to follow later on.

According to the manufacturer, all three models offer a 99.8kWh long-range battery pack with a heat pump, and a range of up to 300 miles. Kia also refers to its 800V ultra-fast charging technology, which allows all EV9 variants to be recharged from 10-to-80 per cent in 25 minutes on a 350kW high-powered charger.
