Ebusco remains Deutsche Bahn’s main supplier of electric buses

The German railway operator has already placed several orders with the Dutch company for Ebusco 2.2 buses under the new framework agreement, which runs until 2026. The agreement between the two sides covers 12- and 18-metre electric buses.

Ebusco will remain Deutsche Bahn’s main supplier for electric solo and articulated buses until 2026. The new contract is based on a framework agreement signed by both sides in April 2022, which was valid for the years 2023 and 2024. The extension now comes into force for the years 2025 and 2026.

Deutsche Bahn and Ebusco have already agreed on several orders for Ebusco 2.2 buses through the framework agreement. These “will be deployed in more than ten different projects.” In an accompanying press release, Ebusco says some have already been delivered. Moreover, the companies are discussing additional firm orders to be placed soon, “which will bring the total so far to over 100 [electric] buses.”

According to Ebusco, Deutsche Bahn has only ordered Ebusco 2.2 buses so far. However, the contract also provides for the possibility of ordering Ebusco 3.0 buses. The Dutch company delivered the first units of the new generation this summer. However, the bulk of the current orders are for the Ebusco 2.2.

Patrick Oosterveld, Sales Manager at Ebusco, comments: “It has been great to consistently work with Deutsche Bahn and build a partnership in which we can both rely on each other. We are very proud to have been selected as a supplier of electric buses until 2026 and expect two more fantastic years in which we will make a major contribution to emission-free transportation in Germany.”

In the medium term, Ebusco is aiming for a production capacity of 3,000 buses per year.
