Fisker promotes head of engineering to CTO

The electric car manufacturer named David King as its new Chief Technical Officer. King was previously Senior Vice President, in charge of global Body Engineering.

As Chief Technology Officer (CTO), King will now lead Fisker’s global engineering and software teams in the USA, Europe, India and China, replacing Burkhard Huhnke, who is leaving the company for personal reasons, according to Fisker. King will report directly to CEO Henrik Fisker and will “the company’s engineering and software teams into the next phase of growth.”

King joined Fisker in 2021 after three decades in the automotive industry. As Fisker’s SVP of Engineering, he previously led global body engineering, overseeing the development and launch of the Fisker Ocean body programme in Graz. King also oversaw operations in the UK, managing Fisker Magic Works, the company’s speciality vehicle division, and the development of the Fisker Ronin and the Force-E off-road package for the Fisker Ocean.

“David has made major contributions to our engineering innovations and has provided dynamic leadership as we have moved into volume production and deliveries of the Ocean SUV,” says Henrik Fisker. “He will now bring his considerable experience to the task of leading the company into the next phase of its growth as we bring several new vehicles to market by 2025.”
