In Mexico, BYD is launching with two versions of the Seal: the rear-wheel-drive variant is priced at 778,800 pesos (44,800 USD), while the four-wheel-drive version comes with a price tag of 888,800 pesos (52,000 USD). For comparison, the Tesla Model 3 AWD is available in Mexico at a price of 985,900 pesos.

Regarding the technical specifications of each variant, the RWD model features a 150 kW rear motor which is capable of 310 Nm peak torque. The vehicle can accelerate to 100 kph in 7.5 seconds, and runs on a 61.44 kWh LFP Blade battery, which allows for a range of up to 460 km.

The AWD model runs on two motors, reaching a total of 390 kW (160 kW + 230 kW) and 670 Nm peak torque. It can accelerate to 100 kph in 3.8 seconds, and runs on an 82.56 kWh LFP Blade battery and can reach a range of 520 km according to WLTP.

Since officially entering the Mexican passenger car market in March of this year, BYD has introduced several new energy models, including the Han, Tang, and Yuan from the Dynasty series, as well as the Dolphin and Seal from the Ocean series.

“In November of this year, BYD achieved a groundbreaking milestone in production and sales, securing its place as the world’s first automobile company to reach the production of 6 million new energy vehicles,” said Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD Company Limited and President of BYD Americas, adding: “Impressively, BYD accomplished the transition from the ‘5 millionth’ to the ‘6 millionth’ new energy vehicle in just three months. Drawing inspiration from the Ocean X concept car, the BYD SEAL is a dynamic and powerful pure electric sedan. In addition, BYD SEAL is also the world’s first production model equipped with CTB (cell-to-body) Technology, which achieves new breakthroughs in safety, handling, and efficiency.”

Similarly to Tesla, BYD is also still looking to build a factory in Mexico, however, Stella Li only said “We do have a plan, but there is still a lot of work to be done, ” when asked by media.
