Previously, the smaller battery option of the Hyundai Kona Electric was exclusively offered in Europe. For the 2024 model version, there will be two main battery and powertrain versions, including the SE with a 48.6 kWh battery and a 99 kW electric motor, and the SEL with a 64.8 kWh battery and a 150 kW electric motor.

All versions now include Hyundai Pay, which is Hyundai’s payment platform to enable in-vehicle payments, which can be used for things such as parking or, in limited cases, charging. Bluelink+ is also available on all versions, which is Hyundai’s “industry-leading connected car services program”. Additionally, the SmartSense Advanced Driver Assistance programme has also been further improved.

Previously, there had only been a 64 kWh battery version with a 150 kW electric drive on offer. The 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric SE starts at $32,675, plus a $1,335 destination charge. Thus, the final price is just $875 less than the 2023 Hyundai Kona Electric with a 64-kWh battery. The 2024 Kona Electric SEL starts at $36,675, so $3,125 or 9.3% more than the outgoing big battery version. The price range tops out with the better-equipped Limited trim, which costs $41,045, although it runs on the 150 kW drive, so the equipment improvements are more in terms of comfort, such as “H-Tex seating surfaces in Black”.
