Arriva has been awarded the contract to operate bus transport in the West Brabant region of the Netherlands. The 10-year contract provides for the introduction of 200 new electric buses from July 2025.

According to Arriva, a “key part of Arriva’s successful bid was the presentation of a robust and future-proof network with faster and smarter transport options.” The company further plans to electrify its entire bus fleet by 2030. West Brabant’s delivery contract in West Brabant will officially come into effect in July 2025, when the first of the new buses are expected to be delivered.

“This is an important win for us and I’m proud that Arriva will continue to serve the communities of West Brabant for another 10 years, building on our high levels of service and track record of sustainable transport solutions,” said Anne Hettinga, Managing Director of Arriva Netherlands, adding: “Arriva brings international expertise across all forms of transportation, and we look forward to working with the local passenger transport authorities to grow public transport in the region.”

The Netherlands is not the only location where Arriva has been active lately, with the announcement of an order for 90 electric buses to support Arriva’s London fleet announced in November, as well as the announcement of a very similar contract in the Netherlands almost exactly a year ago.
