Metallica to use electric trucks for its concert tour in Europe

Heavy metal band Metallica will use electric trucks for their "M72 World Tour." Partner Iveco will provide heavy-duty trucks for Metallica's shows in Europe from May to July 2024 - and the crew will also travel by EV from concert to concert.

Iveco’s electric trucks for transporting equipment include the S-eWay.
According to the manufacturer’s website, the model is available as a purely battery-electric version and a fuel cell variant. Both drive systems will be used. However, regardless of whether BEV or FCEV, the equipment will be transported purely by electric power.

The Iveco eDaily will also be used as a shuttle vehicle for the crew. It is not known whether the musicians themselves will also be travelling by electric means. According to Iveco CEO Gerrit Marx, the band is keen to reduce the carbon footprint of its tours.

At the start of the partnership with Metallica last November, Iveco said it would also use natural gas trucks. That is no longer the case. Metallica concerts will take place in Munich, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Warsaw and Madrid, among others.
