Under the new collaboration, Ascend Elements and Call2Recycle aim to provide car dealers, recyclers and repair technicians with customised battery management, logistics and recycling services for electric vehicles.

According to its initiators, the programme combines Ascend Elements’ electric vehicle battery recycling infrastructure and technologies with Call2Recycle’s collection, logistics and tracking capabilities. It provides online access to GreenTraxEV, Call2Recycle’s cloud-based all-in-one platform designed to ship mid-life, end-of-life and damaged-defective EV batteries.

The companies plan to collect and recycle the equivalent of over 300,000 electric vehicle battery packs by 2030. The press release also points to Ascend’s processing capacities at its facility in the US state of Georgia, which can “process 30,000 metric tons per year” and is “one of the largest EV battery recycling facilities in North America.”

“We are pleased to continue our partnership with Ascend Elements so that together we can make strides in building an infrastructure for Electric Vehicle battery transportation and recycling,” said Leo Raudys, CEO of Call2Recycle. “Our commercial agreement will enable a convenient collection process through our state-of-the-art GreenTraxEV logistics platform.”

“We’re excited to expand our partnership with Call2Recycle and offer a comprehensive EV battery recycling and tracking program to our customers,” added Ian Braime, Chief Commercial Officer at Ascend Elements. “This new program will help automotive dealerships, repair shops and recyclers prepare for the wave of EV batteries that is expected in the coming years.”

This is not Ascend Element’s first such cooperation, as a similar one was announced with SK Ecoplant last September, but that is not the only location where Ascend is active, as the company opened a plant in Poland just last month.
