While Peterbilt also manufactures its own electric trucks, such as the Peterbilt 579EV, or the medium-duty 220EV, which was presented in 2019 at the CES. In this case, however, Einride is planning to integrate Peterbilt’s technology platform with its trucks, in order to better serve customers in North America.

The technical specifications of the579EV are as follows: The Class 8 electric truck has a gross combined vehicle weight rating of 82,000 lbs and can deliver up to 500 kW power. The range is set at 150 miles per charge, which takes around three hours to charge on a 150 kW charger, or Level 3 charger, as Peterbilt writes. This can take up to 18.5 hours on a Level 2 charger, which is optionally available in the form of a 19.2 kW AC charging station. The battery is built on a 650-volt architecture and features 400 kWh of total capacity.

Under the newly announced partnership, the Peterbilt trucks will be delivered to Einride’s US customers who have booked Einride’s turnkey Freight Capacity as a Service solution. In addition, the two companies will provide customers with help to identify “the best EV configuration for customer operations, locate available incentives and help choose from the wide selection of PACCAR chargers and infrastructure solutions.”

“Peterbilt is a leader in commercial vehicle electrification and offers the industry’s most complete lineup of electric vehicles. Our focus on creating reliable zero emissions solutions enable Einride to electrify end-user fleets and support reducing tailpipe emissions in the transportation industry,” said Jason Skoog, Peterbilt general manager and PACCAR vice president. “The Model 579EV is an example of that focus and is the flagship of the Peterbilt electric vehicle lineup.”
