Kruger Energy orders 50 electric trucks
Canadian developer and operator of renewable energy power plants Kruger Energy is deploying its first two electric heavy-duty trucks and has ordered 50 more. The two electric trucks in the company’s fleet are two Peterbilt 579EVs.

Frito-Lay lowers emissions with new fleet in California
Frito-Lay a snack food division of PepsiCo. has announced that by the end of 2021, it will replace all existing diesel-powered vehicles at its Modesto manufacturing plant in California, with zero-emission (ZE) or “near-zero-emission” (NZE) vehicles.

Kenworth opens orders for two electric trucks
Truck manufacturer Kenworth will start selling the Kenworth K270E battery-electric truck model and its bigger brother, the K370E, in the USA and Canada. The drivetrain for the BEV trucks is supplied by Dana. The first deliveries of the trucks should be made before the end of the year.

Peterbilt delivers first 15 electric trucks 220EV
The US American truck manufacturer Peterbilt has delivered the first units of its 220EV electric truck. Frito-Lay, a company belonging to the PepsiCo Group, is using six of its electric vehicles as part of a project in California.

Peterbilt adds medium duty electric truck to range
Truck manufacturer Peterbilt has just presented the mid-size 220EV electric model at CES 2019, which compliments their 520EV and 579EV all-electric trucks announced in May. In total, Peterbilt say they will have more than 30 electric trucks in trials with customers by the end of 2019.

The US manufacturer Peterbilt has now also begun working on an electric semi truck. They are cooperating with Meritor and TransPower, who will produce fully electric drive systems for two vehicle platforms.

BYD to build e-buses in Ecuador: The Chinese manufacturer continues its worldwide expansion and is en route to start operations in South America. Supported by Ecuador’s government, BYD agreed to invest 60m dollars in a facility that will make up to 300 electric buses a year with the help of 300 workers. Ecuador already generates 95 percent of its energy from hydro-electric power plants and recently ordered 30 electric taxis, the e6 from BYD, to drive guests around the City of Loja.

Tesla founder seeks new path: Martin Eberhard was among Tesla’s originators before he fell out with Musk in 2008. Eberhard has taken his own steps into the market now and is behind InEVit, a start-up that wants to build electric car components to sell to various OEM, Electrek learnt. Joining him is Heiner Fees, a former Bosch engineer that holds multiple patents related to energy storage, which is another field InEVit sees itself “inevitably” involved in, according to its trademark application.
