PwC Belgium gets 200 new Mini Cooper E for young professionals

PwC Belgium is adding 200 new Mini Cooper E cars to its fleet by the end of this year to replace 200 diesel-powered BMW 1 Series. They are reserved for the company's young professionals. With the new vehicles, PwC Belgium will have a total of 300 electrified Mini vehicles in its fleet.

According to PwC Belgium, the procurement is likely to enable the company to meet its fleet emission targets faster than initially assumed. In 2021, the Belgian PwC subsidiary committed to reducing the emissions of its vehicle fleet by 20 per cent every two years – with the aim of being emission-free by 2030. By phasing out 200 BMW 1 Series and purchasing new electric Minis for the company’s young professionals, it could now reach its target as early as 2028.

According to PwC Belgium, more than three-quarters (77%) of its vehicle fleet is now electric or partially electric. However, the company does not state the total number of cars in its fleet. A total of 200 Mini Cooper electric vehicles will be delivered by the end of the year. At a recent event organised by manufacturer Mini Belux and PwC Belgium, almost 160 young employees were welcomed in Vilvoorde to introduce them to the vehicle and hand over the keys.

“With today’s delivery and the one at the end of the year, the company will have a total of 300 electrified Minis in its fleet,” the company writes. PwC Belgium now has electric vehicles at all functional levels. In addition to electric cars, it offers other forms of sustainable employee mobility. For example, employees are given an alternative mobility budget or the option of leasing a bicycle.

According to Patrick Boone, Chairman of PwC Belgium, the current delivery is a big step forward for the sustainability of his company. “As a company, we have the ambition and responsibility to be Net Zero by 2030, both by maximally reducing our emissions and by compensating for the remaining impact. With this switch to electric MINIs, we will achieve the Net Zero end goal of an emission-free fleet in 2028 instead of 2030.”

“More than ever, Mini is showing great maturity in the face of societal evolution. Here, we have the ideal product that fits perfectly within the framework of European electrification goals by 2035,” added Gabriel Goffoy, General Manager of Mini Belux. “Mini positions itself as a pioneer in this respect and has an ideal range for companies, notably our Mini Cooper SE model which goes up to 402 km in the WLTP cycle. We are well-positioned on all fronts: it is a modern, zero-emission car that records excellent residual value results. We combine the qualities of the ideal fleet car with the fun side and go-kart feeling so typical of Mini.”
