Inchcape+ orders electric trucks from BYD
The BYD T9 is a 26 to 28-tonne electric truck. The T9R variant measures 7.7 metres in length, 2.55 metres in width and 3.1 metres in height. It features BYD’s latest-generation 301.7kWh Blade Battery and offers up to 320 kilometres of range. It can also fast charge with up to 180 kW, allowing the battery to go from 20 to 80 per cent SoC in about one hour. According to the manufacturer, it was initially designed as a refuse truck but can also be used for applications in construction and urban logistics.
The purchase agreement is the largest deal for an electric truck fleet in the country so far. It was finalised during the Singapore International Transportation and Commercial Expo (SITCE) 2024. According to Inchcape+, a subsidiary of Inchcape Singapore, the agreement underscores the company’s dedication to the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which aims to have all vehicles in Singapore operate on cleaner energy by the year 2030.
“This milestone order signifies a significant achievement in our pursuit of sustainable commercial mobility and reinforces our commitment to pioneering green energy solutions,” Li Zhengxi, director of commercial vehicles at Inchcape Singapore, told local media. “Our mission of bringing mobility to communities worldwide drives this transformative partnership with BYD. Together, we are not just envisioning a sustainable future; we are actively building it.”
