Tesla offers free Supercharging with Model Y order
The campaign, to which Tesla has drawn attention via email and social media posts, is only limited to new cars, not used cars sold by Tesla. In addition, Tesla covers only the charging costs themselves. “Idle fees” or other additional charges still have to be paid by the driver. In return, the offer “can be combined with a financing programme and/or other promotional offers for Model Y in the country of delivery which are visible on our website, such as but not limited to: preferred interest rates, referral credits, inventory discounts,” the carmaker specifies. And: If delivery is delayed to a later date “due to circumstances within Tesla’s control,” customers can still receive free Supercharging – but only if they accept the delivery “on the first available date.”
It is also important to note that free charging is not only linked to the Model Y’s VIN, but also to ‘the named first driver receiving delivery,’ Tesla states, adding that “Free Supercharging cannot be transferred to another person in case of an ownership transfer or to another vehicle.”
There is thus also a special feature for corporate customers. When ordering as a company, the name of the driver must also be specified, who must then accept the delivery in order to benefit from this offer.
However, there is no restriction on the drive variant of the Model Y. Tesla currently offers four variants in Europe. The basic model with rear-wheel drive uses an LFP battery for a WLTP range of up to 455 kilometres. However, it is not available in all European markets. The other three models with a large battery are offered with rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive and performance all-wheel drive. Prices start at 48,990 euros list price for the Long-Range Rear-Wheel Drive Model Y in Germany (46,990 pounds in the UK), while the Long-Range All-Wheel Drive model with the large battery starts at 54,990 euros (or 51,990 pounds in the UK).
