The fleet of 14 electric buses have been on the roads since December, including eight Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses for urban transport and six Iveco Crossway LE buses for intercity routes. This makes Comett Plus the first company in the Czech Republic to use electric buses in regularly scheduled services. Within a year, the new vehicles are expected to cover nearly one million kilometres and transport more than 1.7 million passengers.

The aim of the project is to sustainably reorganise public transport in the region. Electrification is intended to significantly reduce CO2 emissions and increase operating efficiency at the same time. Currently, the company’s target is to electrify a third of the bus fleet. In total, Comett Plus transports around 6.5 million passengers a year on urban and regional services.

Comett Plus has two charging depots in Tábor and Mladá Vožice. The bus operator worked together with German energy company E.ON, which planned and implemented the charging infrastructure for the electric buses. In total, 17 charging points were installed across the two sites. In Tábor, six double-arm Kempower satellites supply twelve charging points with a total output of 700 kW each or 350 kW per charging point. In Mladá Vožice, two double-arm Kempower satellites and a single Kempower satellite were installed, providing a total of five charging points. The output here is only 100 kW due to the limited local network. Additionally, a mobile 40 kW charger is also available for maintenance purposes.
