Xpeng to introduce the G6 & G9 in Europe
But first, to the two European launches of the G6 and G9: The ordering phase will start in the second half of July 2025, with the market launch planned for the fourth quarter of 2025, according to Xpeng. “Technical specifications and prices will be announced in good time before the start of sales,” it continues. European customers can register their interest for both models via Xpeng’s official websites in the Netherlands, Belux, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and France.
However, the company is still providing some details about the technology to illustrate further development. This is because both models will receive the next generation of the 800-volt platform with efficient silicon carbide semiconductors, as well as a 5C LFP battery across all equipment lines. And 5C here doesn’t just mean the charging peak, as Xpeng is announcing “exceptional charging speed with a 10-80% State of Charge (SOC) achieved in just 12 minutes.” And with LFP batteries (lithium iron phosphate), critical raw materials such as cobalt and nickel are also dispensed with.
Even though Xpeng Germany has not yet provided any further data, it is worth taking a look at the Chinese model, because the charging rate of 5C (instead of the previous 3C) was also one of the focal points at the presentation of the revised G6. In China, the new model has either a 68.5 or 80.8 kWh battery, offering a range of 625 or 725 kilometres according to the Chinese cycle. With the 5C, this means that an 80 kWh battery can be charged with up to 400 kW. With the model update, Xpeng in China has also thinned out the G6 range and now offers three instead of six versions – all rear-wheel drive models with 218 kW of power.

It is not yet known whether this will also be the case in Europe or whether Xpeng will also offer an all-wheel drive model in this country. From the images of the China facelift, it is clear that the design overhaul is very moderate. In the German press release, Xpeng mentions a new ‘Stellar Purple’ exterior colour for the G6, a matt metallic paint finish. However, it remains (at least in China) around 4.76 metres long and has a wheelbase of 2.89 metres.
The dimensions of the larger G9 also remain the same with a length of 4.89 metres and an even three-metre wheelbase, while the press release mentions a comprehensive comfort upgrade: the G9 gets a large, heat-insulating panoramic sunroof and ‘luxurious’ comfort seats with a ten-point massage function – the current model already scored highly in our test with its comfort and seats.
In China, the G9 has also received the 5C LFP batteries, albeit in slightly different sizes than in the G6. The small battery has an energy content of 79 kWh, the large one 93.1 kWh. However, the range of 625 to 725 kilometres is the same again. Regardless of the size of the battery, the charging time from ten to 80 per cent should be reduced from the current 20 minutes (3C) to twelve minutes. In addition to a 258 kW rear-wheel drive model, the G9 also comes with a 423 kW all-wheel drive model.
The pricing will be interesting when ordering starts: the G6 currently starts at 43,600 euros and the G9 at 59,600 euros, both with the small batteries. In China, however, the two revised models have fallen by eleven (G6) and five (G9) per cent respectively, despite the increased charging performance.
