Aegis Energy taps Cloudics to power multi-energy charging hubs for trucks
The network, due for full deployment by 2030, will offer ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging as well a place for H2-powered vehicles to fill up. It will also offer HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) and bio-CNG refuelling, alongside dedicated facilities for drivers. The first location is set to open in 2026, with five sites operational by 2027.
According to the operator, the hubs are designed to address the specific needs of logistics operators, offering pre-bookable charging bays, real-time operational visibility, and 24/7 site security. Each site will also have rest areas and amenities to support drivers in long-haul operations. The initiative is backed by €119 million in funding from global investment manager Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners and is part of Aegis Energy’s strategy to support the UK’s commercial transport decarbonisation agenda.
To manage the complexity of a multi-energy network at scale, Aegis is implementing the Cloudics platform as its digital backbone. The latter is said to enable full control of site operations, dynamic pricing, load balancing, and integrations with fleet management, energy systems, and third-party retail services. Built entirely on a modular, API-driven architecture, Cloudics allows Aegis to remain vendor-agnostic and rapidly deploy new services as technologies evolve.
“We’re delighted to be working with the innovative team at Cloudics to deliver the next generation of technology for commercial vehicle fleets,” said Eddie Davidson, Head of Technology at Aegis Energy. “Transparency, reliability and simplicity are at the core of enabling the energy transition—that’s exactly what our partnership with Cloudics is delivering.”
Drivers will also benefit from a dedicated Aegis mobile app powered by Cloudics, offering services such as route planning, charging slot reservations, mobile payments, loyalty schemes, and eventually food ordering and other conveniences. According to the Estonian company, the cloud-native architecture significantly reduces time-to-market for these kinds of features, while also future-proofing the network for next-gen vehicles and energy sources.
“We’re proud to support Aegis Energy’s bold vision for clean transport infrastructure in the UK,” said Gary Szendzielarz, Head of Business Development at Cloudics. “This partnership is a testament to how cloud technology can transform the energy retail landscape—making it smarter, faster, and more responsive to change.”
