DEKRA a vehicle testing and inspecting organisation founded in Berlin, Germany, in 1925, and Windrose, a Chinese electric truck startup, will join forces on safety for autonomous trucks. The two companies have said that this will involve battery and vehicle safety testing, as well as EV truck battery stat-of-health diagnosis based on patented DEKRA methods, as well as DEKRA networks to support Windrose on four continents. This should allow Windrose to meet standards in Europe, North America (Michigan), Oceania (New Zealand), and Asia (China).

The partners aim to enhance the reliability of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and improve road safety through comprehensive testing and validation. The collaboration will also focus on advancing vehicle-to-everything (V2X) connectivity, which will involve ensuring seamless communication between vehicles, infrastructure, and other road users.

This time last year, in mid-July 2024, Windrose Technology announced its intention to manufacture in the US and Europe. According to founder and CEO Han Wen, Windrose is planning an assembly plant in the US state of Georgia and another one in Belgium. Now the manufacturer has joined forces with DEKRA, making use of its hundred-year history of truck testing in Europe.

The two companies have announced that they will be cooperating closely with local authorities, regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders, stating, “DEKRA and Windrose will drive harmonised safety standards across multiple markets, ensuring that the latest advancements in electrification and automation are implemented seamlessly on a global scale.”
