SETA announces tender for 28 electric midi buses in Italy

The northern Italian public transport provider SETA from Modena has invited tenders for the procurement of 28 electric buses measuring 9.5 metres in length. They are intended to strengthen public transport in Modena, Reggio Emilia and Piacenza.

The tender is divided into 14 fixed orders for the electric midi buses – and 14 optional units. According to SETA, the vehicles must be 9.5 metres long, have a low-floor design, two doors and a dedicated wheelchair space. The estimated net order value is a maximum of 27 million euros. And according to media reports, the tender is organised in a single lot and also includes options for the supply of spare parts and maintenance. According to the tender, the deadline for submitting bids is 26 August 2025.

As reported, SETA began electrifying its fleet this spring. With this in mind, the northern Italian public transport provider has equipped two bus depots with charging infrastructure. These are located in Reggio Emilia and Piacenza and have been equipped with Kempower fast-charging points for a total of around 50 vehicles. Meanwhile, the first eleven e-buses in the fleet come from a German manufacturer: specifically, the MAN Lion’s City 12E model.
